Encouraging a Learning Environment
We believe that a school is a social environment and contributes to the vital societal skills of each child need. Our standard model of teaching is an interactive one which focuses on a systematic and skill-based approach. The student years are crucial as they are formative and can make or break a student’s career. We believe in laying strong foundations so that our students grow into secure and responsible adults. In keeping with this philosophy, we take necessary steps at the time of admission to limit the number of seats in each classroom. This creates an atmosphere that is not only conducive to learning but is also enjoyable and welcoming for the child.
Positive Classroom Settings
Classrooms are where students spend the maximum number of school hours and we ensure that the environment of these spaces is positive and inculcates mutual respect and camaraderie. Our classrooms are at par with international standards and allow teachers to closely interact with each student. Each class is not only airy, cheerful and spacious but also replete with modular furniture, extensive display boards and large windows. The furniture and décor of each classroom facilitates teaching and learning. They have been designed by our architectural partners, who have also constructed our environmentally sustainable school building. There is space for lockers, with each child having his/her own, in which they can store their books and stationery. Our children therefore do not need to carry heavy and oversized bags to school, reducing the physical and mental strain on these young minds.
A school’s library is the centre for learning and plays a crucial role in boosting innovation, problem solving and curiosity. It acts as a facilitator for reading and knowledge that enhances the learning capability of students and teachers alike. The school library is the central point for engaging in cultural activities, reading, accessing information and deep analytical thinking. Our library always has a librarian to help students and teachers identify the books and sources of information on a particular subject. They also answer queries that are related to the materials stored here and are particular about the rules and regulations that govern this exhilarating space.
Our library is used by students from Class 3 onwards. The pre-primary to Class II students are made available books in the classes by the class teachers.
Resources at Our Library:
The library has one large resource room that can seat 45-50 persons. There is also a section which is used as a coin and stamp library and traces the history of our country via these two resources.
Our school’s library is well-equipped and rich collection of resources that include books, videos, CDs, DVDs, newspapers and periodicals. These range from general reference material to specialized information. The reference section includes encyclopaedias, linguistic and biographical dictionaries, atlases, handbooks and directories. These resources must be referred to in the library and cannot be borrowed.
The news update corner has about eight magazines and five newspapers that encourage students and teachers to keep abreast with happenings around the world. The staff members are allowed to borrow the periodicals for a week at a time while students are expected to use these in the library premises.
Technological advancement has grown at an exponential rate in the past few decades. Modern day living has become completely dependent on technology which has permeated all aspects of our existence. The child of the 21st Century has proverbially been “born to it”. Schools have had to keep abreast with these new trends which have had an important impact on education as well. Integrating technology into the teaching learning process has been a major concern for us.
Making Education Relevant
Computer education became a part of the curriculum barely two decades ago. Initially, the computer was treated like a machine that the students learnt to switch on and off. As the size of the computer became smaller, the amount of information it could store became bigger. The potential of the computer as a disseminator of information is limitless. It has pervaded every facet of our lives. Where once it was just a machine used for calculations, today it is an extension of the books we use for learning.
Making the Students Feel at Home with Technology
Students from kindergarten onwards get their share of the computer time. In the junior classes the computer lab has a multi-faceted function. It is used as a language lab, a math lab and a place where students are exposed to facts beyond their curriculum. Learning how to use computers is more informal, since they are mainly used as a teaching aid.
Class I onwards, computer education is more formalized and we have seen that the students grasp the basics very quickly since they have been familiarized to its functioning at a very early stage. Although a course of study has been prescribed by the board, the students are way beyond their expected levels.
Gratify the Learning Curiosity – Physics Laboratory
Working and experimenting in a laboratory forms the basis and is quintessentially what physics is all about. Applying theoretical knowledge and using it in experiments is the most effective way to master the subject. Our school encourages and stands for all round-development of its students and in keeping with that spirit, we have a well-equipped and outfitted physics laboratory to foster and expedite learning in the most effective way. The equipment here is state-of-art and addresses all domains of the subject. The laboratory promotes the spirit of investigation and testing and serves the learning interests of primary to senior secondary students. It is set up in accordance with the requirements and specifications of the Board for Physics.
Up-to-Date and Fastidious
There are meticulously designed and neatly labelled charts and manuals to facilitate experiments and assist students to execute all these with ease and safety. Safety procedures are clearly stated and everyone must follow the rules and regulations mentioned therein. The furniture and storage has been designed with special fire resistant materials and fire extinguishers are placed at accessible distances.
The laboratory is spacious and airy and allows students to integrate classroom exercises with the lab assignments. The ample space permits equipments to remain set up, saving time and effort of both lab assistants and the students.
The capacious laboratory houses computers and other modern instruments which are integral to the proficient functioning of the lab and also facilitate learning for the students. The equipment and tools provided incorporate modern technology with standard learning methods. They also develop physics concepts and skills for subjects like analysis, information processing and measurement.
Chemistry Laboratories – Adding Interest to the Subject
Chemistry is often perceived as complicated and even boring. At our school, learning chemistry is super fun! It is a place to explore, enjoy and also understand the responsibility of treating equipment and chemicals with the care and attention they deserve. Learning methods, facilities and the faculty here prove that the subject can be interesting and easy to learn.
Encourages Learning with Curiosity
Each of our science subjects has a separate laboratory. The chemistry lab. is also fully equipped to ensure that students are in touch with all the latest developments and techniques in this realm. The environment and setting of the lab nurture the intuitive and inquisitive minds of the children and enhance their zest to make scientific enquiries. The teachers and the highly trained lab staff provide an atmosphere conducive to learning not just in theory but by applying it practically.
Practicing the Study of Living Organisms
Our school is renowned for instilling discipline and affecting every aspect of a student’s life. We strive to teach our children from a real life perspective and therefore take special interest in educating them in science. As a subject, science includes the observation, deployment and understanding of actual materials and objects. To ensure that students practice what they learn, we have separate laboratories and this portion will talk about the biology laboratory.
The laboratory is well-structured, airy, spacious, well-lit and replete with all the required equipments and tools. The materials are in abundance to allow each child to freely explore the secrecies of living organisms and sort out theoretical difficulties through experimentation. In our attempt to provide a well-rounded scope of this subject, students are also taken on trips around the school and parks to better grasp the peculiarities of the flora and fauna. Our little ones, in the primary section, are especially thrilled each time they are taken for these educational trips. The school’s head-gardener supplies the biology laboratory with plants and insects for scrutiny. Students engage in lively and interesting experiments like grafting, germination process and chromatography in this lab. Dissection of plants and vegetables is received with much enthusiasm as students get to use microscopes and other equipment that they would not normally use to view the living world.
Arts & Crafts Room
In keeping with the ethos of the CBSE, our education is holistic. We offer a rich and diverse array of non-academic pursuits aimed at enabling our pupils to uncover new talents and interests and develop those that exist already. With its cosmopolitan atmosphere, our school with its modern architecture provides an inspirational setting for any artist. We foster our pupils’ originality and ingenuity that takes full advantage and allows them to express their creative urges.
Art & Design isn’t just a part of the time tabled curriculum, it is offered to both the primary & secondary sections pupils as a co-scholastic activity.
Dance, Music and Drama
The school is committed to offering a wide range of co-scholastic activities and trips that enable pupils to develop their social, sporting and cultural abilities. We believe these also foster their self-belief. Our goal is to help realize their potential through enjoyment and interest. It is then further honed by caring and involved members of faculty.
Instruments like the harmonium, tabla, guitar, sarod, congo, drums, keyboard and others are accessible for the students. The music department is equipped with teaching students both vocal and instrumental Indian classical music. Interested students can learn contemporary dances and songs as well as classical dances.
School playgrounds are those areas where children hone their physical activities and flourish. Good playgrounds are large enough and are designed in such a manner that children’s play and talent can come to full expression, where children at their will can make a mess, jump, run and hide, where they can cheer up and explore the details of this beautiful natural world.
A variety of important factors usually determine the quality of a school playground for the young. These include design specifications of the play area, safety related issues, playing equipment, accessibility of the playground and adult supervision, which is mandatory.
There are two significant reasons why playground activities are critical for children. Firstly, many of the important developmental tasks that young children must learn like risk – taking, exploring, gross motor – movement skill development as well as absorption of vast amount of knowledge is done on the playfield. Secondly, our new age culture is taking outdoor activities away from children in the form of excessive computer and television use. Unsafe neighbourhoods, busy schedules and tired parents are all contributing to children shying away from playing games. In this world of excessive competition, children are being forced to give too much weight to academics thus resulting in unhealthy and obese kids.
Following are the reasons showing the key role played by playgrounds for the healthy development of children.
Young children need to develop cardiovascular endurance of the body, along with motor development and movement skill acquisition. This can be achieved through physical activities in playgrounds. Extensive exercise and workout is urgent to fight off the growing problem of obesity in children.
Outdoor activities are one of the main components that characterize a satisfying and complete childhood. Thus, children must play games and fly free in their school playgrounds. These young ones must be given opportunities to experiment, manipulate, influence, explore and dream in order to create a positive outlook towards life.
Any one who has worked with children in schools knows how quickly viruses and bacteria spread in these environments. One way to control and reduce the spread of such infections is through lots of fresh and healthy air. School playground activities enable the infectious agents to spread out and easily dissipate. It also enables young children to get clean air and exercise and thus be less constrained.
Swimming Pool – More Than Mere Exercise
Unlike many animals that retain their natural ability to swim, six months after our birth, we humans have to learn how to keep our bodies afloat and move in water. But knowing how to swim is more than a sport, it is a fundamental life skill. Studies have shown that when a child learns how to be safe in water, they automatically gain confidence, develop new skills and make healthier life choices. Swimming also serves as great low-strain exercise. It is good for the heart, lungs and muscles without adding strain to the joints. Adding a swimming pool to our school’s infrastructure allows us to give your child access to all the benefits of swimming.
Swimming is sometimes referred to as the perfect exercise. It not only improves muscle definition and builds core strength, it also builds bone mass and enhances lung performance. Australian research demonstrated that children who were regular swimmers had better mastery over language, finer tuned motor skills, besides having superior physical development and confidence as compared to a control group of non-swimmers.
Thanks to our swimming pool, our students have the facility for a holistic workout and a whole lot of fun at the same time. Through swimming we hope to inculcate in our students qualities like self-discipline, a sense of time management, and confidence.
We take great pride in our school infrastructure and our swimming pool is designed to meet all health and safety guidelines.. Qualified staff maintain a high degree of cleanliness and proper water chemistry in our pool at all times. Students are always under the watchful eyes of trained teacher.
Students learn a lot of things while they interact with each other. Travelling together every day teaches children to look out for each other, to share space and to learn to adhere to rules and regulations. Bus travel also blurs the social and economic difference among students since all of them are bound by the same instructions regardless of their background. Group travel teaches students the importance of conservation of resources.
The school has an extensive fleet of well maintained buses which cover a large radius around 30 km of the school. All our buses are manned by qualified and experienced drivers. The buses have a conductor/attendant to ensure the safety of all the students on board. The school buses have all mandatory clearances from concerned authorities to ply on the road.
Transportation is optional for students and since all students are required to be seated, it is important that applications for transportation are given well in advance in order to avoid overcrowding.
Points to Remember
• Change in Route:
Any change in the route or bus stop requires a written application to the Principal. We try to accommodate all requests for change of routes/buses; however we may be helpless in this aspect if there is a constraint in space in the bus on the route of your choice.
Discipline in the bus has to be maintained at all times. The school will not be responsible in case of any mishap if students refuse to sit in the buses or fight with each other while the bus is moving. Bus rules are for the safety of students and we request parents to ensure their wards pay heed to bus driver and attendant.
Your cooperation for an efficiently run transport facility will be highly appreciated.
